सौंठ का मतलब होता है सुखा हुआ अदरख, इसका प्रयोग साधारणतः पाउडर के रूप में होता है. सौंठ हमे बहुत से संक्रमणों से बचाता है , वैकल्पिक चिकित्सा में इसका प्रयोग बहुत आम है. सौंठ का प्रयोग खाना बनाने में मसाले के रूप में होता है , चाय बनाने में होता है और वैकल्पिक दवाइयों को बनाने में भी होता है.

  • सोंठ अपच में बहुत फायदेमंद होता है, अगर कब्ज हो तो १ चम्मच सोंठ पाउडर को १ गिलास पानी में उबाल के पीने से बहुत लाभ देता है. 
  • सर्दी – जुकाम में भी ये बहुत फायदेमंद होता है. आधा चम्मच सौंठ १ चम्मच मुलेठी पाउडर के साथ उबाल कर के पीने से फायदा देता है. 
  • सौंठ को दूध के साथ लेने से बहुत से बीमारियों से बचाता है. 
  • माइग्रेन और सर दर्द में भी ये बहुत आराम देता है. ऐसे में १ चम्मच सौंठ पाउडर को गुनगुने पानी से लेने की सलाह दी जाती है. 
  • सब्जी बनाने में प्रयोग करने पर स्वाद बढ़ा देता है. 
  • सौन्दर्य प्रसाधन के रूप में भी इसका प्रयोग महिलाओं द्वारा होता है. ये मुहांसों को भी हटाता है. 
  • मोटापा दूर करने में भी सौंठ बहुत मदद करता है. ये शारीर में मौजूद वसा को जलाता है जिससे वजन को नियंत्रित किया जा सकता है.
  • सौंठ के पाउडर को दूध के साथ मिला के पेस्ट बना के लगाने से त्वचा में निखार लाता है.
